Am I mixed up or is the faderport ONLY a daw controller?
Can it be used for tracking? To record a live band into S1 ?

Welcome to the Forum!

FaderPorts only provide control surface capabilities for DAWs.

There's no audio interface included with them.

For that you need something like an ioStation 24c or StudioLive SIII mixer that provides both.
