Macro button on Logic Pro x

Hi I would like to know If anybody know what you can do with the macro button on logic x, the only function I’m aware after reading the manual many times it’s to press macro and then any automation button to affect all your project tracks, to turn off read automation for example!
The macro and link button are not very well documented on the manual
