Hello,
what Kind of footswitch do you use to start recording?

I just use a keyboard sustain pedal.

One that is momentary or latching according to the quick start guide. Momentary might be better for certain functions though. My experience is that latching foot switches are a bit clunky compared to a smooth acting and faster momentary type in this type of application. Latching is good for guitar pedals where you want something either ON or OFF.

Polarity does not seem to matter. I think I have tried both NC (NC = Normally Closed e.g. normal sustain pedals) and NO (Normally Open) types and they both worked fine. I think Faderport senses what type of switch is present on switch on. As do many keyboards these days too. (thankfully)

Actually either type of switch will work according to page 5 of the Quick Start guide...

Footswitch. Connect a momentary or latching footswitch to control start/stop.
