FaderPort 8 and FaderPort 16 General Discussion

Hi All

My FP was working great but I think an update of the firmware OR an update of Studio One 3 Pro (ir a combination of both!) has caused my FP8 to go screwy :(

I am on Windows 10 64bit

I have to "reconnect" the FP8 to the file - it used to "wake up" (ie faders move to position) on opening a file but I have to manually reconnect each time, which does make the faders jump to the right places so S1 is "seeing" the FP8

Play, stop and pause buttons work

However...

The main issues with the current behaviour are...

Some of the buttons change the on-screen state (eg loop will make the loop button on screen go blue and "click" will activate the metronome) - but these buttons do not light up on the FP8

The scroll wheel cycles through the tracks but I am unable to select tracks using the FP8 and the bank PREV and NEXT buttons do not work

I am unable to click the scroll wheel to take me to the selected track on screen

The faders on the FP8 are also out of alignment with the on screen faders!!!!

Has anyone experienced this behaviour and do you have any ideas of a fix!?!?!?

Please provide the FP8 Firmware version it is currently on as well as your Studio One version.
Also your Universal Control version.

You may need to make sure both S1 and UC are current and then install the FP8 FW update again.

Thanks Bbd

My FP8 is now on version 2.02 (although it still didn't work when I reset to the factory default - 1.01 I think it was)

Studio One 3 Pro is V 3.5.6.46910

This combo also gives the described behaviour

Just had a thought...

Does the Universal Control software act as a "driver" for the FP8 - I thought it was just to update the firmware of the FP8?

If it does act as a "driver" then that may be a clue to my issues...

When installing the Universal Control software I get an error about a C++ redistributable - if I click cancel the install goes ahead but I am not able to update the firmware on my FP8

I had to update the firmware on the FP8 via another computer

so.. if the Universal Control software does more than just update the firmware and actually plays a part in making the FP8 work with S1 then this may be the cause of the issue?

Does anyone know if the Universal Control software is a "driver" or just a utility to update the firmware on the FP8?

Well - this is a strange one....

After days of installing and uninstalling Universal Control everything is now working!

I am not sure exactly what fixed it but I managed to find some older versions of Universal Control so installed these back to a version that was working - but still got the C++ redistributable error

I then tried to reinstall the latest version, still got the C++ redistributable error, but this time after clicking cancel I noticed that a few new installer boxes popped up quickly and went so it felt a bit different this time

I tried to use the FaderPort 8 with S1 and everything was working as it used to

I am a bit concerned that I am getting the install error regarding the C++ redistributable but am pleased it is all now working

Good work!
You should uninstall UC and download the latest and reinstall. You should of get that install error.
