FaderPort 8 and FaderPort 16 General Discussion

but it seems the faderport forums are like a ghost town.

Re the faderport 8...
Is anyone able to use the "tap tempo" on the encoder knob? Neither that works for me or the scroll areas to adjust tempo settings. Only the Click "on/off" works. Most of the ads say you can ADJUST the tempo.
Plus.... where's an in depth manual on this thing? The pdf file is almost a copy of the "quick start" that came in the box. I've pretty much got the hang of it, but without the Johnny Gieb videos, there'd be some stumbling.

Yeah, the Faderport forum can be a real closet! Lol. But it does get views, but for immediate answers, you did the right thing.

I never tried tap tempo use with the Faderport 8. I'll give it a shot later tonight though. If I can find the manual, I'll hunt it down, but it wasn't an end all for information. But I'll see if it points to tap tempo.

On a whole, I love the FP8 for a lot of reasons. The Plugin control is also very useful.
Huh, never thought to set tap tempo with it. Others may chime in before I get a chance to try, so hang tight.

I've got faderport one, what's the "plugin control"? Guess ONE's don't have it.

Nope, V1 doesn't have it. Look at the pics of the FP8 and FP16. You can map 3rd party plug controls to the knobs and scribble strips. Native plugs already mapped.

Which was why I asked in a thread about "native" (or Presonus) plugins. It's all too easy to control parameters with S1 plugs and actually easy with 3rd party too. You just spend the time setting them up...but then it's done.
Keep your faderport 1 and get the 8 or 16 in addition. If you like the idea of hardware controllers, you won't be sorry, not to mention some things you CAN'T do with a mouse.

My next question is if two faderport 8 work as well as a 16? Seems no issue...just like a 1 and 8 together. I ask because with some sales, I believe you can buy two 8's cheaper than the 16...or at least spread the purchases out.

For me I'd be looking at a Softube console One next.

Using 2 FP8's is not officially supported (at this time) even though there may be some functionality available. Presonus would not be able to support that configuration though if there were any issues.

Hi Chris,
Yeah, I stated it was ok, to get it started in the S1 community support
forum as that's where it will be visible, imo. Somewhere there's mention in the forum rules about posts will be redirected. I would have dropped it in where you did as well. More fish there. ;) It would take a day or so, possibly less, to drop the question here in the FP forum. Just avoid doing both for the obvious reasons.

My lack of seeing your post as well. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.

*. *. * * *

I see nothing regarding tap tempo in the manual. Only to pull up the tempo map via function key.

Your question does seem legitimate because under the Faderport 8 features its states:
General session controls: Undo / Redo, All Arm, Solo / Mute Clear, Track Management, Click On / Off with tap tempo

That leads me to think you can tap tempo off of the FP8.

Yes....that's the script I've seen...Sweetwater, etc... "click on/off with tap tempo" It was mentioned in another thread that it is a feature request. That would be wonderful should it be implemented. Definitely not an issue now as I'm totally loving the faderport 8. The 16 would have been nice, but didn't want to drop the extra cash on it now. I need to get used to switching the banks, as it's not always obvious what bank you're on. Also, when say you only have 12 tracks, I wish it would show 9-12 on the 2nd bank, but it doesn't seem to do that... it shows 6-12 inclusive, with the last fadar being the master (if there are no busses or VCA channels yet)
I'd rather have it show 9-12 with the last 4 faders being at 0, so I could "assimilate' at a glance, in groups of 8. Maybe it does that, but I'm not seeing how as yet. Everything else is working great. The other thread I mentioned about touching the bottom side of the faders... and you can do so and there is NO contact, even adjusting the sensitivity. That's been the only issue to date as I like to "nudge" the faders if I want a slight volume increase.

I ordered the focustite clarette octa-pre for my clarette pre8x for 16 channels...and a FP16. Sounds like a winner assuming it all works as expected
