I can't seem to find a comprehensive set of instructions/controls for the AR16. The PDF manual is limited and the only videos (Presonus or You Tube) I can find are geared at the AI mixers.

Any help appreciated.

Hi and welcome :)

Well, the Owner's Manual is a quick read because the mixer itself isn't all that complicated.

What you may have missed is PreSonus' habit of putting any software related stuff in a separate Software Reference Manual. Between the two manuals most questions should be answered. But if there's anything specific you can't seem to find then feel free to ask ;)

Thanks for your response SB.

Why do I need to set the trim knob on channel 1 with my SM57 near 100%. I would expect 70% of peak or so.

Only one effect can be used a a time universally? Don't see how to assign 1 effect to one channel and a 2nd effect to another. Session 3.5.3 talks about creating an effects mix

Phantom power can only be universally applied? All channels or nothing? No way to lock a channel out? So no way to use a mic requiring power with anything else? Do I need to disconnect everything that would be damaged by phantom power? This seems cumbersome.

Is the SD card playback disabled if the unit is connected to a PC via USB?

No way to select songs on SD card? They will play alphabetically and you have to skip them?

If I have songs on an SD card and want to record on it, will it overwrite the data that is already there?

Those are the ones so far that I can't seem to find answers to, any help appreciated.

Yes, the AR pre’s could have done with a few db extra. Still, enough is enough

Yes, you can send a mix of channels to the effects processor and select one effect for that entire mix

Yes, phantom power is global for the XLR inputs. Still shouldn’t be a problem in 99% of the cases. Passive DIs and dynamic mics (assuming standard XLR cables are used) will ignore phantom power. Do be careful with ribbon mics though.

No. In the ‘super channel’ those two inputs are exclusive. But you can also return usb input to the channel left of the super channel

Yes

No, used space is used space

Hope this helps :)
