I am interested in buying the Studiolive AR16 USB to record performances into my ipad.
Which generation of Ipad is supported? Will I be able to record all 16 tracks at once? Is there any other peripheral devices I need to make this happen, or is it simply as easy as connecting the USB out from the Studiolive AR16, into my ipad? My main interest in this mixer is to be able to record performances using my ipad, so any information on ipad requirements, the ease of doing so, any additional gear, quality of recording is appreciated. I cant find anything on this topic, which is surprising to me, and frankly, the only thing keeping me from making my purchase. Thanks for any help. I appreciate it |

To my knowledge, the AR16 is not an MFI device. I am asking for clarification.

So here is the deal. SD will only record a stereo stream, so for multi tracking that isn't an option at this time.
Recording to an Ipad is not supported. It is a class compliant device. There is not guarantee that it works with a particular app, or at all, so be careful. [EDIT] There is more information forthcoming. I will post here when I have it. Stay tuned. |

So to your point, I think I'm back to the SD card, which isn't awful, but (and correct me if I'm wrong). It would work as follows. I plug my band into the AR16. (say we use 8 separate channels) We record our performance, rehearsal, etc. That recording is now on the SD Card I take the SD card, and plug that into a lap top or MAC that has "Capture" software. "Capture" will show me all 8 separate channels that were used in the recording. I can then "mix" those channels to clean up the recording as I like. From that I can create my "Master" recording, and use it for demo, promo, etc? Is that correct? |

Nope, sorry. The sd card is only capturing the stereo mix of the main outs. Any multi tracking like you are mentioning needs to be done via usb and a pc/mac.
