CS18AI Headphone seems to be dead!

I've just acquired a CS18AI and a RM16AI and it took quite sometime to get them to connect but sometime during a day of fiddling around I lost all headphone volume. Absolute silence on main mix. cue mix and solo. I thought maybe I had deselected something so I installed the latest firmware thinking this should reset everything but still no headphone level.
I can see level on the main output meters and I can hear it through the connected PA speaker.
There is level on the RM16 headphone outputs. Are these mixers known for blowing headphone amps? The headphone jack is firm so it's a bit of a mystery.
Any thoughts anyone? thanks Ron
