I had previously owned an 1818VSL unit that I liked until Universal Control stopped supporting the onboard DSP, which included EQ/gate/comp/limiter …even for the "output" faders. I continued to use the legacy driver package (before UC) until I started having problems running Studio One, ….and I sold it. I recently purchased a new Studio 192 which according to the marketing media seemed to have the same features and more. Unfortunately to my dismay, I found out that although the EQ/gate/comp/limiter is available for the input faders, it is NOT available for the output faders. In a perfect world we would have perfect monitors and perfect amps to listen to our music. However, I have a need to EQ/comp/limit my outputs. I was able to do this with the 1818VSL, and I would consider this "true" speaker management. The speaker management in the 192 is only output select/switching and volume control. …..next step, was to try to do some oddball routing with Studio One (I have Professional 4.1), and take outputs back into 2 input channels and out another set of outputs to take advantage of the input channel DSP plugins, but I don't see how I can do that either. Does anyone have any suggestions? ...otherwise I am looking at forking over more money for an outboard device to perform those functions such as the Ultracurve Pro DEQ2496.
