Currently trying to decide if I should get a 192 or wait for a Quantum(or go another route)

Reading about issues with latency and VST's. I could not take a chance with a 192 if it has these kinds of problems.
Just curious if the new 3.5 update to studio one addressed these problems.

You would have to be a lot more specific about "Issue" and more specific about your intended use.
If you are into extreme low latency with the ability to use Native plugins then I would go for the Quantum if your system can work with Thunderbolt 2.

Thanks. There is a running forum post on this board and some other sites with complaints about very bad performance with the Studio 192 and VST's. Not subtle but glaring problems.

It's hard to sift through real criticism vs a few loud critics.

Guess I'll wait for Quantum or go a different route altogether.

I would like to know as well. I've read too many complaints of poor ASIO performance working with VSTs to pull the trigger in the past.... however one would think the 3.5 update may have fixed this in its entirety.

Does anybody have real-life experience using one of the newer Presonus interfaces w/ 3.5? I'm considering the Studio 2|6... but I'm nervous b/c I would purely be using it for ASIO performance.

Again you would have to be a lot more specific about the "issues running vst's"

I never had issues before running tons of VST's with the Studio 192, perhaps others are more sensitive to latency than I. However, the Studio One 3.5 update does improve upon working with VST's using any interface including the Studio 192. I'm really excited about the LLM with VST's which works great. I like to mix as I go in a production and Studio One 3.5 just makes it that much easier.

Cheers!!!

You know we mean ASIO performance lol. :)

The ole' "Is running 2 Kontakts, Omnisphere, and a couple of U-He plugs going to create pops and clicks on a CPU that should be able to handle it but my ASIO drivers are not very good" issue.

That is horse of a different color.

The 192 gets ~10 ms latency pre 3.5 (due to DSP)
It gets ~10 ms latency post 3.5.
3.5 does not make interfaces faster.
It can run 140 tracks with 100s of unique plugins and still hand ~10 ms latency recording all day long on my system.

I ended up purchasing a Studio 192 as Quantums are not showing up in Canada until August.
No regrets, If there were actual issues previously with the interface with the Virtual instruments latency. that has been resolved. Very happy with the 192.
