The new gear sounds exciting! I'm wondering if I can slave my 181& via light pipe?

I would like to know this as well.

It would be nice if I could make use of my 1818 as I paid a good price for it, and would be upset if I had to relegate it to defunct status.

In theory it should work as a slave input over adapt, but I am no expert.

Hopefully a Presonus tech will chime in.

On the surface, I would say that the 192 can not act as a preamp, based on the fact that both units provide internat fat channel processing, and that usually requires direct connection to the pc.

I am working on clarifying this to be sure.

Ok then. The Studio 192 can operate in standalone, so you could use it as an adat pre.

I'm guessing you mean the 1818 can operate in stand alone? I've been wondering the same thing. Can I use my current setup of 1818vsl and d8 as 16 extra inputs via adat with the 192? I would think so, but it would be nice to know for sure, before throwing down $.

No. The 1818 must be connected to a pc/mac work. The Studio 192 can work standalone.

Hey Matt

So does that mean we can slave the 192 to the 1818 then?

Cheers

Yeah Jeff.....I believe that's exactly what Matt's saying. In theory, any interface with ADAT I/O that can operate in standalone can be slaved to the 1818. Before I got a D8 I did this with an old MOTU 2408.....no pre's but 8 more channels of I/O.
