I've recorded this piece before and released it on my third album E|G|VW. That was for full orchestra. This version is for fiddle, cello and piano. I personally find it much more challenging to record and mix small ensembles of a few instruments than full orchestra or strings. Balance, placement, dynamics and sound EQ are all critical.

This recording was about the sixth take/third master, and uses Notion's own piano with Virharmonic Soul Capture Series Bohemian Violin and Bohemian Cello. I think these are some of the best solo string instruments out there. All recorded in Notion, using VSL Hybrid Reverb for room tone (large wooden paneled room) and then mastered in Studio One 3 with MK Lurssen Mastering Console.
