I am looking at the pros and cons of going with the CS18AI vs a large format touch screen to control my new RM32AI. If I go with a touch screen can I use the UC Surface software to control and mix on Studio One?
Thanks Jason |
I feel as though I should explain that a bit more. I run Studio One on a Mac Mini. I want to use a windows 8 surface w/UC Surface as a DAW controller??

no UC Surface is not a daw control . atleast at this time . I have heard that the new 1.3 coming later this month will have some control over Capture. Studio one version 3 will have an ipad app for control soon it is in the app store pipeline now should be released in the next couple weeks. although I think it only works with the Professional edition

In the video I watched it showed Studio One being controlled by a touch screen. If I have a Studio One 3 running on a Mac and also have a Windows 8 touch screen, can I use the touch screen to control S13 running on the Mac?

If I have a Studio One 3 running on a Mac and also have a Windows 8 touch screen, can I use the touch screen to control S13 running on the Mac? Nope. The vid you saw probably had S1 running on a pc with touchscreen. If your pc/mac does not have a touch screen, then no touch screen control. Your option at that point is the ipad app when that hits the street. |
matthewgorman wroteIf I have a Studio One 3 running on a Mac and also have a Windows 8 touch screen, can I use the touch screen to control S13 running on the Mac? So in the video ad it states "Intuitive Multi-Touch On Mac or PC" Am I missing something. Can I just add a touch screen to my Mac Mini? And if so, what keeping me from using that same windows 8 touch screen as strictly as a second monitor for my mac mini "with touch capabilities" Wow my gears are a spinin |
Can I just add a touch screen to my Mac Mini? Mac doesn't natively support touch screen. From what I understand, there is software that can be purchased to enable touch screen ofn a mac with a compliant touchscreen. You can set up a second pc for touchscreen, but it will not provide touchscreen for the mac mini due to the above comment. You can get remotte desktop software to control the mac mini. Sounds like you are trying to use the mini to record, and a second pc for control? |
UPDATE:
I picked up a Dell S2240T multi-touch display today. Plug in to my Mac mini with yosemite and have touch support OOB. Only issue is I don't have "intuitive multi-touch" on Mac. I don't understand how they are getting multi-touch on Mac and with what device. |
I know this is an old post, but wanted to clear things up a bit.
MacOS can be used with touchscreens in multitouch mode, as long as you acquire a 3rd-party driver. I use a PQ Labs infrared touch frame on my 42” screen, as well as 27” frame on my 27” screen.... and PQ Labs offers a driver that works with their frames. Their are also capacitive touch screens as well. Slate Raven started out using IR frames, then swithced to capacitive. There are other multitouch drivers you can buy separately, one being Touch Base. |
