My mixer (last firmware) had frozen four times in the middle of concert. I'm starting to lose customers!
What is the most stable firmware and where can I download it?
Thank you

Thanks

Will it work with the last UC Surface?

Yes. Almost all functions will work but you might find that a previous release that you have found stable works just fine for you too.

Let us know how it works for you. Btw do backups , full backups in uc surface on iPad win or mac work for you ?

You can probably use the latest UC Surface on an iPad or android device with the FW9244, but if you use UC Surface on a Firewire computer you will want to use UCS 1.8.3 on the computer.

Maybe on windows but in my experience not necessarily on Mac. I’ve never had a problem with UC surface whatever the version when FW connected to the RM from my macs.

Really!?! Have you tried to use the mac to mix in a live sound environment? I'm interested in getting a new (or used) computer if it were to solve this issue. You are the first person I've seen state that UC Surface 2.x + doesn't suck on a Firewire computer.

This video shows what happens to me after mixing on the computer for only a few minutes. Don't get me wrong, it still works, it just starts going a little crazy for me as seen above after making a lot of changes to settings in the mixer, as you would during the first song of a live show.

The FireWire display Lag is a problem of UC Surface 2.x on all platforms. FireWire works, but the metering in UC Surface is "out of this world". The metering in Capture and Studio One is flawless.

We haven't heard too often of RM mixers "freezing" and from my experience with two rack mixers (RM16AI + RM32AI) in several years I can say I have never seen a freeze. Nevertheless, the insert card and its several ports (especially the two FireWire ports) is THE criticial area and the signal flow can easily be interrupted. You should start looking and checking the insert card (change the use of ports, try another insert card) and also watch the signal flow in UC Surface. Interruptions in the signal flow indicate a problem, which mostly has to do with cable connections.

I have had lag but it's never been so long as to make mixing difficult. I suffered years with the UCdeamon issue screwing up my FW connection for recording. Once I got a bypass for that and occasionally reloading the firmware in the mixer (especially when full scene backups no longer work, FW works fine.

(Btw the backups in UC run but don't create a new backup whatever platform you run UC surface on).

I've moved on to using Dante cards now in both my RM32a so I can't easily set up a test and compare with a config with AVB cards.
