I asked about his in a previous discussion, but the thread is about a year old. My mobile rig's Macbook Pro died and I'm trying to avoid financing another $3k for a new one. I have an XPS 15 9550 which is great for just about anything you throw at it, but from what I've read it may not be compatible as is for my RM16ai. Has anyone had luck with this combination? Mobile computer would be running Capture 2 and Studio One only. Thank you.

If it's the same computer as this:

You "should" be able to use an Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter. Then you will need and Apple Thunderbolt 2 to Fireware adapter. In theory, chaining those two adapters together, should allow you to connect to the RM. There's a post here somewhere, where somebody has used the 2 adapters to get their Thunderbolt 3 port to work with the Studiolive FW port.

Thanks for the reply! Set it up with an Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter and a StarTech Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt 3 adapter - part#TBT3TBTADAP. I read in another discussion that the StarTech is the only reliable adapter in this type of chain, so that's what I got. Was a bit rough installing the RM driver, had to try several times. PC didn't recognize the Apple adapter. I just clicked the warning away. After RM driver installed all was fine, no popups about the Apple adapter. So far no problems.
