Hey WahlerStudios, Are you still seeing a lag over Firewire with the beta Firmware and newest UC 2x? My biggest issue with it is the ghosting faders and pots, the meters are not as much of a concern. . . I have one more gig tonight then I'm free till May 17th so I'm going to try to test it ASAP after today.

Steve

Yes and no... ;-) There is obviously a problem with older Capture recordings. I write more about it in the beta forum. Otherwise and especially if you are not depending on the meters (what you see is not what you get), everything looks quite fine, I would say.

Nope, I’m getting a “you are not authorized” message if I try to read that forum.

Even if I might use these mixers on occation I don’t own one and therefor have none registered on me and is therefor prohibited to read that part of the forum.

Ah, sorry. I assumed that as you're in the RM forum that you had an RM...

Yes, you're right. The beta sections are "private".

The problem I have is that until the FireWire lag is fixed, I can’t really update uc surface on my Mac mini. So having any new features delivered for my RM (remote RTA) still doesn’t help me. I am a bit disappointed that it has taken this long and it still isn’t fixed.

The term should be changed from FireWire lag to FireWire display lag, because that's what it was and still is, even with the beta firmware. FireWire (audio) works fine, but do not look at any metering display in UC Surface... It is now clear that the problem has come with UC Surface 2.0. The metering of Studio One, connected via FireWire, shows everything "in time".

I don't think you will miss so much by staying with UC 1.8 on your computer, because the firmware on the mixer is more important. It may well be that "good ol' 1.8" shows and does everything, when the firmware of your mixer is updated. "Sync Select" probably works, because it was already a feature of UC 1.8.

There is no "remote RTA". It's just the "go remote" function, which is the noisy part of Smaart. This feature is now available on UC Surface tablet, which of course needs Smaart on a computer. I have no idea if a combination UC 1.8 (computer) and 2.7 (tablet) can handle "go remote". Generally, there is no problem using both versions. You can use the new features, but the display on your computer is still "readable".

Why not check the beta firmware for your mixer and UC 2.7 on your iPad (if your iPad is young enough)?

and stating that the display lag issue for meters continues on UC 3.X
