I used to have Audiobox VSL 44 that I really adored. When it couldn't work properly due to age, I bought iOne without sufficient research. Then I found it has gain issue as many people have complained.

Due to economical reason, I should have bought Audiobox VSL 22, not iOne.

Even my future goal is to get Studio 68 which is the better version of Audiobox VSL

Personus is so far a respectable brand, and it's important to maintain the reputation.

If I were one of the owners of Presonus, I would give compensation to those that bought iOne.
If financially possible, I would send a fresh Audiobox VSL 22 to them each. 😎

Or another option is: give free download of a full DAW.

Hopefully loyalists will continue to stay at Presonus house.

My old Audiobox VSL 44 cannot work by USB, (there is little explosions) but can still work by output line & headphone output connected to onboard soundcard.

But is it okay if I use iOne with mic source from Audiobox VSL 44?
What if I connect Audiobox VSL 44's output line / headphone output to instrument input at iOne?
Especially in voltage issue:
Should I turn on iOne's panthom to be 48 volt? Or any volt would be okay?

Note:
iOne actually works fine regardless the gain issue. All works normal.
