I am not sure where to post this issue so here goes.
I have been using Presonus interfaces and mixers since 2006. I have used the FP10 (Firepod) and my RM32AI with multiple (5) computers and over a dozen different cameras over the years. I have used Sony Vegas as my recording software as well as Capture, once it became available, and have never had an issue synchronizing any of my multitrack recordings with any video I have shot. That is until last September when I got a Studio 1810c. The audio recordings from this session were unable to sync to any of the multiple cameras that I used that day. I returned the 1810c as I only wanted to have a smaller interface to use on small jobs. In December I went to use my RM32AI and it decided to become brick. I replaced the dead RM32AI with The StudioLive® 24R digital mixer. I set up my gear for a simple test session, again I was unable to sync the recorded audio with the recorded video. I took out an older laptop, one that I had successfully used with a different USB controlled interface, and worked with multiple video cameras and tried again.. Still I had no luck with either capture or Vegas Pro. Starting to get desperate I took out my Micro Tower, this PC was reliably used with my Firepods and the RM32AI. I wanted to use the older version of Universal Control. This PC could see and control the 24R but I was unable to get capture or Vegas to work with the 24R.. I then updated all the software on that tower, as I had retired this PC almost a year ago I was still unable to get capture to work. I know this is a longwinded post but I cant figure out why both of the interfaces that used the USB bus will not sync to video but my Firewire devices would reliably work. Anyone have any ideas? |
Here's an overview of the differences.
