I very much want to be able to control my StudioLive III 16 via the UCNET protocol from something like QLab or SCS. Since the StudioLive Mixers don't include MIDI, the alternative is UCNET. I have searched everywhere for a reference to the presonus-ucnet protocol, and have not found anything (other than IANA port assignments). I know I can control QLab and Behringer X32 mixers via OSC, and would like to do something similar with my Presonus mixer.

I'm not using UC, I'm not using a DAW.

I have the mixer, and a Mac running QLAB. They are on the same network. I don't want to be running any extraneous software on that Mac that might impact QLAB.

Pardon my ignorance, but MCU? (To me that's Marvel Cinematic Universe) HUI?

After some playing around...
I have to go through the macOS Audio MIDI Setup program to enable Network MIDI. Network MIDI on a Mac requires AVB/EAV support.

Unfortunately, that only works over Ethernet; and not all Ethernet adapters are supported. Basically, I need to hook an Apple Ethernet->TB2 adapter into an Apple TB2->TB3 adapter (I have a recent MBP). My existing USB3 Ethernet adapters will not work; and obviously, neither will WiFi. This is quite a kludge, and I'm not sure who to blame? Apple or Presonus.

I can control an X32 board via simple TCP/UDP connection (over WiFi or Ethernet) or via a USB->MIDI interface. It shouldn't be this challenging.

UC Surface works great for me for controlling my Series III. The Series III (DAW Mode) works great as a controller for Studio One.

Hope you can find a solution that works for you.

It might be better to ask your question in the closed Facebook group. At least there are people from PreSonus writing there, so if somebody has an answer, you might get it there.

I hace acquired a Studiolive 24 series 3. I saw this beautiful machine at a friends house who showed me the DAW mode function in Ableton Live

On this machine in combination with apple MacBook 2015, where apparently it seems impossible to use the function with my Ableton.

I simply can not select any in- or outputs if I select Mackie control mode in the midi preferences in Ableton

I use the thunderbolt to gigabit ethernetadapter..

Please, any help is welcome..

Unfortunately there is no dedicated DAW Mode for Ableton, just the basic functions of mixer/interface and DAW, which are described in the "Using Your StudioLive Mixer as an Audio Interface with Universal Control Reference Manual". You can find the manual on most of the download pages. I do not remember any special documentation or video explaining HUI or MCU functions when using Ableton, so it might be the best idea to ask your friend for advice and demonstration.
