Push wroteGood job . Maybe a little too much at 900hz and4.5khz. hey, thanks for listening, as far as the harmonic balance, lets look.... hm.... here is the frequency curve of the mix: as you can see, there is very little that sticks out at 900hz and 4.5khz... maybe your monitoring is a bit off....

Try to listen with your ears and not look at the frequency curves.

Push wroteTry to listen with your ears and not look at the frequency curves. WELL, i'll try to ignore the condescending tone, and explain quite briefly... i do not mix using frequency curves. in fact, the only meter i watch, is the Level Meter. the frequency curve is simply put there for YOUR benefit, to show that what you think you are hearing is probably skewed. it could be your monitoring, preconceived notions or opinions about mix, etc... but if i have anything happening at those 2 frequencies, it is by choice. not everyone is going to like that choice. Everybody's got an opinion, but there's such a thing as qualified opinion. i'm not sure of your qualifications. but hey, you gave an opinion, so good on you there.

Okay, I'll try not to comment on your work anymore. I don't see the point. thank you.

I've worked as a sound engineer at European studios for over 40 years, and you show me curves? I just won't listen to your music because you don't like criticism. That's all. Good luck with your creativity.

Sounds good Robert. I like the separation of the stereo field here. The bass is also nice and tight, & slaps are right on. Some tasty guitar licks all over the place.
The EQ is fine, and doesn't need any changes (but we already knew that). I was trying to find some influences here, but it's usually better to cast aside names and just say it's your thing (on this song). If I do mention any names, it's purely complimentary, but I hear some Ronnie Montrose (i.e. "Open Fire" album). Nice use of the whammy, and scales. Very tasty.

Some tasty guitar licks all over the place. hey lokeyfly! i appreciate the comments yes, eq is fine, but no matter how much time you spend eq'ing, it IS a subjective call at the end of the day. i was a big ronnie montrose fan (rip) back in the day, and had a band in 1980 that played a bunch of tunes off the GAMMA album at the time...and 'on fire' was like a more rocking jeff beck, which i really liked. either way, thanks for listening!

great mix as always, badass groove/playing/writing. quit your day job.
... @Bats Brew To save time, maybe next time just post a curve instead of the audio. ... I've worked as a sound engineer at European studios for over 40 years @Push, might want to have those ears checked if you've been working at it that long. just saying... |
