Here is a quick little yiblee jibber I wrote with a Martin acoustic, a cheap old Ibanez Gio bass, some Shure mics, and a Scarlett 4i4.

Minor processing, terrible mastering, but Studio One is a lot of fun.

How does one rid themselves of the terrible fret noise? Do I need to butter my fingers?

Your music is worth you trying to fix the noise for sure.
You can also try using a desser and try dialing in the frequency but it really does start with your hands.
