This one was a lot of fun. Recorded in a small pub in Omaha, this recording features members of bright eyes, cursive, McCarthy trenching, and a few more. It was a live record and recorded on a Midas M32 into Studio One 3 (I forget the version). Enjoy!

First off this sounds really nice for a live recording.
Second, for that many players, their levels were captured well.

It sounded nice but kind of flat, I would like a couple of large omni’s room mic’s out in the room to catch the public (did 200+ bands live one year) and the live feeling in general. In general I leave a pair of channels for that purpose and simply turn the faders down when gain is set at around -12db/-14db in.
I use also M32 and Pro1 at work ! Good gaining !

This was a 20x 12 room with eight musicians and about 70 people. No stage. It was wild and I tried to get the crowd sound but there was only so much we could do. Thanks for listening and the pointers!

dougasherman wroteMy kind of country! Do you have any studio albums? I’m not in the band, but they don’t! It was a project just started by various touring musicians from various groups that decided to form a band playing covers. I’m a live and studio engineer and was asked to record the show and mix the record. It was intimidating as the band contained a mix engineer and producer that has platinum records and soundtracks to his name, but it got done and was fun! Thanks for listening!

Fader Rat wroteExcellent job! It’s nice when everything works at a gig. Did you master this in Studio One? Thanks! No it was mastered by Ed Brooks at Resonant Mastering (Pearl Jam, Fleet Foxes, Mastodon, among others!)
