all in S1P here's a first mix of the vocal version of this song. this is an uptempo, but groovy rock thing, lots of fun guitar stuff, some pretty wide open vocals. i think the vox level needs to come down, to match the guitars, which i think are more in line with the drums and bass. bass line might be a bit too upfront, but the louder you play it, the more it seems right. guitar rhythms might be a bit too light. being first mix, i'm kinda on the fence with it, open to suggestions.

The mix sounds great on my end. I like where the Bass is. I wouldn't change it. The tone on that Bass track is killer.

Outstanding.
You asked... Rhythm guitars L&R might use less reverb/delay so that they become more predominant. Look at the level when the lead comes in toward the end. It's really hot and dry. So maybe too much? But it is way ahead of the R guitars so that's why I would like to hear the L&R guits more present. Love the song, arrangement, overall mix and VOCALS! |
Bbd wroteOutstanding. hey bdd! glad you dig this song, and YES, i did ask.... but the rhythm guitars, in the mix, are bone dry, and have zero effects on them. they were recorded dry, off the amp and cab, with a 57 and a shure ksm44. so maybe, you are hearing the effects on the lead parts?

Bbd wroteMaybe. Either way, they might come up a touch to balance out the lead. ok, tried brightening them up a bit, that seemed to just shift them forward. i'm playing with the vocal levels too... i'll post a new version soon.

I think this might benefit from setting up fx busses to route all similar tracks through. It's a pain, and I am guilty of ignoring that same advice.
But it might help here, it sounds like every track has it's own drastically different room size. |

yes, i've already re-mixed it,
and i'm waiting for my head to clear on it. i'm doing final mixes on the 5 other tunes i have finished now, then i'll post those, come back to this one. see, when i post stuff like this, i'm working on them. i don't dwell on it, i just get busy. doesn't make sense to leave obsolete mixes up, if i don't get much feedback on it right away, i'll just keep working.
