no working titles on these new songs i'm working on,
i'll figure that out later.

this is the 2nd song towards the next album i'm working on....
and it's the 2nd song i've created entirely in studio one.

this is the 2nd mix i've posted of this song,
looking for suggestions about mix decisions,
bass and kick translations, vocal clarity, etc.

i appreciate any responses,
as these are current working mixes, i'm changing them quickly.

Love the song- the composition, vocals, mix....everything!
Bass comes through nicely, even when played through my tiny Alesiss Elevate 3 monitors, at a modest volume level. Also sounds great on my $100 Audio Technica headphones (just to let you know that I'm not a pro, and I'm not in any sort of pro studio....I'm just a hobbyist.)
But I've listened to many mixes, and I can certainly hear that you know how to compose, sing, play, and mix.

Great stuff...I listened to a few more songs of yours while writing this...I'm very impressed!

Hey !...powerful stuff dude !...liking the guitar work, the overall sound was a bit busy I thought, what with the multiple guitars and vocal layers, personally I would have mixed the vocal a little different.

I found the low end slightly lacking listening only Yamaha HS7;s .

But....a greta track, really good composition, and....probably better than I could do !. :)

Novation Impulse 49 - Yamaha HS7 - Kemper Profiler -

Pretty impressive form where I'm sitting. Nice and balanced mix. There is a lot going on in some parts but most everything still comes through. I like it! The music has a nice free flowing feel to it. Well done.

I checked out some of your other tunes as well. I really like "Work it Out" when it kicks in around the 1 minute mark.

Really nice song, vocals and production.

IMO listening on speakers.

Mix is muddy on my system. It's the bass around 300hz I think.
The basic instruments need to be glued a bit more. This mix sounds like a rough.
I like that it's not too brittle or harsh but it could use some shine.
Lead vocal EQ sounds a bit flanged. Would like it less.

Wonderful playing as always.

Kick has good bottom but no real click.

Still listening. Need some top end listening to cymbals and vocal.

alright monkey!
thanks for listening....

it's good to know it's translating thru a smaller system, i try to ride the fence between mixes that work full range and still sound decent on buds and smaller speakers

hi tim,
busy, yes, i like a dense mix!
but your comment is making me rethink how much of each part is up at once,
i'll probably mellow out some parts, and take turns with them.

it's mostly just two rhythm guitars panned hard left and right

i've tweaked the low end now as well.

hello haus!
that idea of 'free flowing' is something i work on...
i find that when i play the parts 'dead on', it always feels too stiff.

so i try to play common rhythms like this song, where you COULD play the rhythms and chords exactly the same, a bit different from each other...
that's my rolling stones influence! LOL

hey bbd, thanks for listening,
on my system, no mud at all.

so i gotta go see why i'm getting a translation issue.

with the changes i've now made to bass and kick,
it either helped, or hurt.
LOL

no effects on lead vox,
i find that sometimes when i double leads,
i sing them so dead on, that it sounds like flange.
ugh.

so i have to get more creative with panning, or flip phase, or lose the parts all together, check!!

Ahhh....The Stones! I'm not anywhere near your level, but the Stones taught me about "guitar weaving". I always like to interchange voicings of the same chord between 2 guitars, and I sometimes attempt to play the same motif as differently as possible. (But that's probably not uncommon).
Anyway, I'm going to listen again.....while looking through the prism of my Stonsey-ness detector!
