New song. As are all my songs, it is a Christian rock song, but this is one of the more praise / worship ones. It is not my intention to start any kind of debate or problem here, but even if you do not agree with the lyrics, if you can have an open mind to listen to it, I'd love to hear your comments on the production / writing, etc.

Background on the song: This is a song I originally wrote way back in 1994. I was in a band at that time, and this is one of the originals I wrote. I had ended up moving across the country, and as a result, I quit playing in that band. Long story short, this is when I "became Midiboy" and started doing things on my own. In 1998, I ended up recording this song on my first album which was called "Midi-Life Crisis." (Note Midi...not mid, lol).

When I recorded it, the song had more of a jazz feel with a super cheesy rap in it. The jazz feel was kind of forced as well. Looking back, that album was so disjointed and a total pidge podge of styles, it really just didn't work. So, I have decided to redo, even reimagine that first album completely....besides, back then, I had a 4 track cassette recorder. There was only so much I could do on that. Smile

So, here we are in 2018 and that reimagintion of the album is now 6 songs (out of 12) complete. It will be called Revitalized. I may change it to Revitalized From Crisis, but I haven't decided yet. So, I said all that to say this...

Here is my newest song, "God Of The Mountain."

The music is nice and seems to be mixed well.
Nice progressions and the chosen instruments fit.

But it's too long and repetitious for general use... I barely made it though. ;)
And since I'm not a fan of Petty or Dylan, the vocals aren't my fav since they're nasely.

I can sing nasely also... that's why I usually preferred to work with a singer who was at least better than me. 8-)

I get it though... sometimes I just write for me and me alone and even though I "share it", I know it's not for most casual listeners.

I used to like the older Christian rock like Petra and Resurrection Band but the stuff today is mostly just copies of what the world proceeds with... I do like Red though and a sprinkling of a few others.

It seems any Christian music on air is played so much, I can't stand it, nor the 'typical' franchised station format. It has burnt me out, so that I don't listen to too much of the spoon fed "commercial music" of any genre'.

Keep it up!

In Him,
Scott

Thank you for the well thought out reply, I really do appreciate it. I realize the song is long, but for now, I want to keep it the way it is. I may make a "radio" version to keep it under the 4 min mark or so.

Unfortunately, I can't help the nasally right now. That's me. I was born with a deviated septum with a 95% blockage to the left and 50% to the right. Believe it or not, I'm almost 50 years old and am finally getting surgery for this in May. They can't fix it entirely, but I am hoping that at least it will make my voice a little less nasally. That's my hope anyway.

I get what you are saying about a lot of today's Christian music, and I agree to an extent with quite a bit of it. I also agree that Red is pretty much amazing. I tend to stay more towards the electronic or heavier side of music. The top 40 stuff just doesn't do it for me.

Actually, my favorite band right now is twenty-one pilots. Even though they are quite popular, their style isn't your typical top 40 stuff. Love it.
