I like it!
Quite different. 8-)

To me, this is very reminiscent of Dave Mathews Band. ;)
They have about 7 genre's tagged to them.
I'd say your single here is closest to 'Alt Rock' (with some fusion).

Thanks Scottyo7,

Reminiscent of the Dave Mathews Band is a huge compliment!

I have changed the genre on Soundcloud to Alt-Rock

I like it. Somewhere between Smokey lounge lizard, and acid folk (made up, which is a compliment).

Also good use of bandwidth. Nice and full, without parts stepping on each other, except where intentional. Nice! Rob!

Great song! Very original, and the vibe pulled me right in. I think I like the suggested categories from the other posters. But original songs like this don't fit exactly to just one category.

This song got me thinking...do you have the lyrics posted anywhere? The song reaches me, but I can't quite understand all of the lyrics. Is the song about anyone in particular? For some reason, I'm very curious about what the exact meaning of the song is.

Anyway, great work in all respects! :+1

@ klypeman Thanks Klypeman! :) There is some Country Fusion in there…

@Lokeyfly Thanks Lokeyfly! Not sure if it is the correct genre, but Acid-Folk sounds way cool! (and like to use it as the genre) “Smokey lounge lizard Acid Folk” is pushing it a bit :D

@sirmonkey I’m honoured by your comment! I’ve posted the lyrics on SoundCloud, but the exact meaning remains somewhat open for interpretation. I don’t “own” the song anymore....

Thanks for the kind comments, it is highly appreciated!

In places I get a David Bowie feel for some strange reason!

This is really nice .. love all of the guitars and the way the vocals move around in space :)

And, as sort of said above .. why put it in a genre? Just make your own :)

Very nice .. thanks for sharing!

This is very cool. I like it.
The mix needs some adjustments.
Lots of bassey stuff around the bass part.
The sibalance on the vocals need taming.
It does have frequency range but it is not as clear or punchy as I think it could be.
I think if you put a desser on the vocals and carved out a bit around 60HZ, and then compressed the result at a 2:1 ratio, this might hit clearer and harder.
Just my thoughts.

I like this a lot too. Nice groove and lush sound. Some of the vocal and guitar melodies remind me of The Moody Blues but like a super modern version. If they recorded a song like this now, it could be how it might sound. Just in parts. Original in other sections.

@jpsbuk Thanks jpsbuk! I settled on Acid Folk :)

@Bbd There is a FF Pro C 4:1 UAD LA-2A and Novatron on the vocals, makes the sibilance come out a bit. Did some taming (manually and de-essing) I’m going to experiment with different de-essers and remix.

I’m using Sonarworks (compensates the room and speakers) to get the lows to translate well, could be the listening environment, will check this on different speakers and rooms.

Thanks for you comments Bbd. Mix critique is highly appreciated!

@Jemusic Thanks Jemusic! I was going for the lush sound. Listened to a lot of 60/70 music (including Moody Blues)
