we are dealing with an install where the length from the StudioLive Mixer to the NSB stage boxes is over 300ft. We are trying to use the Netgear M4550 AVB switch with a fiber uplink between the two to link this system. It wants to work, but every 15min or so the stream drops for 3 sec and comes back. Looking at the switch logs, we don't seem to have any indication besides packet drop why this happens. Based on this article, we also tried to modify the MRP Timers, which improved the timing of the drop to about 1.5 seconds.

Has anyone out there encountered a similar issue?

Thank you

Several days ago a PreSonus representative recommended the "Luminex Gigacore series for AVB over fiber" in one of the Faecbook groups. That seems to be the way to go.

I looked at them but they don't list AVB. Has anyone tried it?

Luminex belongs to the AVNU/MILAN group of companies and institutions, working on AVB. The recommendation of Luminex products is a hint, how solutions will look like for AVB networks and Fiber connections. Adding a (as far as I know not officially supported) AVB switch will not necessarily be a solution for your problem. The SW5E also will not "add" more pyhsical length. And, the more "hops" there are in the network, the shorter the distance will be. It's said that "a single lightweight CAT5e or CAT6 cable can be run up to 100 meters (328 feet)."
