We have a 24.4.2 that we are considering changing out our analog connections to a single digital snake using AVB to a 16 channel box for inputs on our stage. We have discovered that the AVB card for our now obsolete mixer is almost impossible to find. Would it be worth it if we can find an AVB card to add it to our mixer or would it be better from a modernization stand point to consider replacing the mixer and audio networking entirely? I have yet to find any DANTE peripherals anywhere near the price point of the Presonus AVB compatible input boxes.

The AI Series of consoles, rack mixers and controller used AVB "1", which could not be continued. The Series III ecoystem uses AVB "2" and the development is fully under control of PreSonus. AVB 1 and 2 are not compatible, so it's not possible to combine AI and Series III equipment. The NSB stageboxes will not work for any AI mixer. AVB "2" can communicate with Dante, but not AVB "1".
If you think of PreSonus equipment, the Series III ecosystem is your future, nothing else.  |
