I called today to inquire about the release date of the Dante card for StudioLive AI mixers. The sales rep I spoke with told me that they were released just this week!! I was so excited! She indicated that most retailers would not have them in inventory yet as they just shipped..... and my dealer (fullcompass) doesn't. I have a tendancy to not believe her, as there was no annoucement from PreSonus; and this is a big event for them! Their July newsletter was released today also, and no mention of this card.

Can we get an official word on this please? WTB. :geek:

Well that sorta sucks. DANTE is the main reason I upgraded from the 16.4.2. And I was under the impression it was built in. How much is the card going to cost?

No clue, but the Dante card for the speakers is going to be $199 according to the press release and that's a cheaper card than the mixers will need. The Dante card for the speakers is a 2 in, 2 out card. That will not come close to what the 32.4.2 AI will need, and I'd assume all three mixers will use the same card. Plus I assume the card will still have FireWire on it, so that's also more than the speaker has.

I'm sure they're working on it, but they don't post a blog of everything they do.

Hi, everybody.

This message is for PreSonus, if possible.

Few month are passed from the last post in this topic. Well I'd like to know what's in progress about the Dante card for AI mixers. Is there a shipping annoucement date from Presonus for this card ?

Thanks for answers about this question...

Dante cards have completed testing and we're ramping up manufacturing. Card will begin shipping this week or next week. We'll be shipping them via air instead of boat to get them out to folks faster.

Well ! Good news from Presonus there ! I'm happy to read it. I'm really waiting for Dante Card Shipping announcement for Europe zone. I think the Dante's protocol will be a standard in the very near future, because possibilities of it is incredible Farewell to snake and other analog cables that cause rumbles and much interferences.

Thanks to Presonus.

Does this mean the possibility of a Dante stage box?

Using the RM and SL AI mixers together with either AVB or Dante you can create a stage box with ethernet connectivity.

Keep in mind that dante does not provide for control of a generic stagebox, so whatever dante device you use for your inputs must be controlled by a separate mean.

Studio One Pro v5, Notion 6, Nuendo 11, BitWig v3, Reaper v4, Ableton Live 8 Suite, iMac late 2015, Behringer Wing/x32-BigBoy/x32-rack all with Dante/aes67 and s16/sd16 stageboxes, Flow8, Waves x-wsg with SoundGrid server, Behringer X-Touch, X-Touch ONE, M-Air mr18, X-Air xr18, DP48, Hub4 and p16 monitor systems, TurboSound iQ-speakers, Motör 61, BCR-2000, FirePod 10, Apogee Ensemble, Alesis HD24, NI Komplete 12 Ultimate Collectors, Halion 6, True Temperament Frets on basses and guitars, Katana-100, DT-50, JSX, JCM800, Korg Kronos, Roland vk-7, Behringer Deepmind 12, Behringer Neutron

Ok, then, just a question : If I understood well, the DANTE protocol could transport all the channels (with a max of 32) by ethernet cable. So, all stage box with DANTE capability should be compatible with the PreSonus DANTE card for SL AI. Is it true ?

So I think, it's the most interesting advantage of DANTE to create a standard between products from different manufacturers. If it's not the case, then in France we could say "DANTE is died in th egg" that mean DANTE is died before his birth. A lot of tries to make a standard protocol of communication are died in these conditions, by missing harmonisation between manufacturers, and much mooney wasted for that.

Of course, the control doesn't transit via DANTE but by WIFI for example, via another network. It's just two different network. Is that correct ?

Yves (from France, sorry, nobody's perfect)

That was the plan. I believe that the option card is the same card used for the RM mixers.

Thank you Matthew,

So I've seen in the RMAI topics the announcement. Then I searched for customers saling DANTE-MIX option card, and I can begin to see some oft them that sales the product but it's not in stock yet. But it's too shy at this moment, the number of resalers is too small. Let's wait and see. The average public price is about $599.95.

Yes, I understand it. Now the BIG challenge for PreSonus : they have to build a Dante Stage Box for a less expensive price from the others manufacturers and before them, thinking, like the mixer, about ergonomy and connectivity. Then, the system will be completed for an afordable amount of money. I can dream a little bit, yeah !

I haven't seen any mention of the SLxxAI boards being able to control the RM via Dante. Is that function only available via AVB? If so, are there plans to be able to control the RM via Dante from the SLai in the near future?

The problem with dante is that there is no provision in the protocol to control headamps, phantom power and such.
