Capture 1.x and Capture 2.x

I'm a relative novice but have been using Capture 2 to record a podcast for over two years. We have recently had to go to Zoom for recording interviews and everything was fine until Capture 2 (for Mac) glitched and wouldn't load. I downloaded Capture 3 and it works fine.

However, without any changes in my sound board settings, I can't get Capture 3 to record at nearly the volume I was able to get with Capture 2. If I turn up the recording levels past "U" to record louder, it gets distorted and mechanical/tinny sounding, something it never did under Capture 2.

What am I doing wrong?

What is the mixer model you are using? FireWire? USB? What are your inputs? Microphone? Line Signals?

I'm using the STUDIOLIVE AR8 USB mixer with a USB connection to my MacBook Pro. Using a high quality microphone for myself and audio coming from Zoom for the other people in the interview. Audio input and output set to the AR8.

It's the exact same set up that I have been using. But the change happened with the upgrade to Capture 3. I think I must have a default setting that needs to be changed or something.

Thanks, you should definitely check the manual if something looks remarkably different. The manual says that there is nothing to adjust on the Mac side. It should work right away. But... The newer versions of Capture have several problems. The last fully intact version was Capture v3.0.1.53214. Don't know if this helps, but it may be worth trying. Also check the mixers manual. I don't own an AR mixer, so this is only guesswork...
