Do you mean that you want to simply write lyrics without music?

I would use just about any word processor for that task.

If you want to put lyrics to music, there is a tool in the selection area for that (you can even specify which of four lyric verses to enter).

And if you just want to enter text above or below a score (you can influence that location later), there is a text tool in the same menu area.
