Hi all - as part of my practice routines I create circle of fifths (fourths) patterns. To speed up the composition of the exercise, I'll make the riff in key of C, then simply copy/paste, then transpose through the 12 keys…

I am now at my Gb riff and have copied it, but now I want to transpose that copy into F#…the transpose options don't seem to give me such an action. How to do it?

Thanks

PS - I don't want to show the key signature (near the time signature) but rather have each note carry its sharp/flat symbol along (like a chromatic scale)

Hi again - any ideas? I am assuming I could manually edit every note to its enharmonic equal, but that would be tedious/chance of error.

Thanks!

Kevin,
I may well be unclear on the concept, but is this what you're looking for?

Hi Mike - your example is transposing a half step up per riff. In my case let's say my riff is the first 3 notes in Gb major, which are Gb Ab Bb. What I want to do is to re-score (transpose) those same three notes with their enharmonic equivalents; i. e., F# G# A#. So while I'm not changing the pitch, I am "transposing" the riff from the key of Gb to the key of F#.

Does that clarify?

Yes, it does, thanks. I don't think NiP can do it.

It's a two step process. Transpose down a minor 2nd and then up an Augmented Unison. Not pretty but it works.

Yes, nice solution.

I understand the minor second, but what is an augmented unison?

Sorry, I've been busy and didn't see this. A unison is the same pitch, so an augmented unison is a half step larger, but it remains on the same pitch class. e.g. C to C# or C to Cb

So an augmented unison is C to C#, but a minor second would be C to Db?

Thanks!
