The best version of Marching Band content we have is with Sample Logic. The presets for Notion 5 users are available on your my.presonus.com page under the Notion 5 software item.

When you click on Notion 5, you will see a tab called Presets. The Sample Logic presets are available for use with Fanfare, Impakt, Rumble and all three together in the Virtual Ensemble Trilogy. You can find the location to purchase these libraries by clicking this link:

http://www.samplelogic.com

In the products page, you can find all of the information you will need to see which of these libraries is meant for you.

Notion has a full set of documentation on how to write for each of the instruments in the sets. There are Marching Bass Drums, Tenor Drums, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Mellophone, and a full array of Front Ensemble percussion with a mix of World Percussion.

Writing in Notion will contain a learning curve of study in that, there are tons of articulations and key switches that can be accessed and knowing how to pull them out of your score in Notion is contained in the documentation.

Kontakt houses the Sample Logic instruments and runs as a VST in Notion. For more information on Kontakt go to:

http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/

This set has been tested and is supported Kontakt 5 only for Windows and OS 10.8 and above.

Enjoy!

Hi Josh,

I would like to use Rumble and Fanfare in my Notion score, but the Kontakt instruments doesn' t seems to load. So here is what I have done:

- Download the presets found on the user section and put the presets folder inside the Notion 5 presets directory. Then starting Notion shows the Rumbe and Fanfare instruments in the VST Pesets section
- I then enable Kontakt in the Plugins manager(by the way I could only enable the Kontakt 5 plugin, both Kontakt 8 and 16 couldn't be enabled)
- Trying to then add any of the presets result in the mixer complaining that it couldn't find plugin with ID 1315524407. Is it because it is referring to the 8 or 16 output plugin?

Thanks.

Francis.

[Update on anyone looking at this legacy post]

The Sample Logic sounds have now been fixed and all " symbols removed, so they can be extracted on Windows. The presets have been updated and can be found either in your my.presonus.com account under Notion 6, OR, in the new Community Preset repository here: https://github.com/notionmusic/presets
