Hello :-) I'm new here. Just installed Notion 5 on my MacBook.

Imported an XML-file from Finale as my first attempt in Notion.
Works pretty fine.

I can set the number of measures per system for the whole score.
Ok.

If I set it to 4, can I make the pickup-measure NOT count as 1 in the first line?
(want pickup + 4 measures in first system)
I found a workaround by setting it to 5, and forcing system break every 4 measures throughout the score. Thought it could maybe be done simpler....
Especially since there seems to be no shortcut for it?

I guess what I ask for is perhaps a global measures-per-system, but also a way to set for a specific system.

Best regards and thank you

Kim, welcome!

You can set the first measure as a pick-up measure by right-clicking anywhere in the measure and then in the Pop-up Menu, go to Measure 1>Pick-up Measure. It will count as Measure 0, and the next measure will be Measure 1. By the way, not sure why you'd want to do this, but you can identify any number of measures at the beginning of a piece as pick-up measures, and they will all be numbered Measure 0. If you enter notes in a pick-up measure whose values equal less than a full measure, the measure will play without a break.

As far as systems, I find it easiest to ignore the measures-per-system setting and let Notion calculate it for me. I then use the same technique as above but I select Measure X>Force New System to force a system break.

By the way, I'd recommend posting these kinds of questions in the general discussion area. More people may be likely to see them there and offer help.

Thanks for your reply.
Sorry I didn't react until now. Thought I'd be notified when my topic was commented on.
Think I have activated notifications now....

How do you mean "general discussion area"?
