Tacet notes print in black instead of gray

It's not a good idea to have a different look for the view on the screen and in the printed version.

I disagree partly. When it comes to tacet notes I think there actually three options in print:
  1. print in black
  2. print in gray (or any colour other than black)
  3. don't print at all
Should perhaps be setting in the score/part options.
