This YouTube video show a ReWire 2 session on the Mac where Studio One 2.6+ Producer is the ReWire 2 host controller and both NOTION 4 and Reason 7 are ReWire 2 slaves. Additionally, there are two hidden NOTION 4 External MIDI staves in the NOTION 4 score that are playing two of the Reason 7 synthesizers. The hidden staves play the same notes as the visible staves, but they play an ID8 String Section and a Thor Distorted Bass . . .

It is very easy to send individual instruments from NOTION 4 to Studio One 2.6+ in a ReWire 2 session; and this is done via ReWire 2 channel pairs, where the output of each respective staff in the NOTION 4 score is output to a ReWire 2 channel pair, which is specified in the NOTION 4 Mixer and in turn is received in Studio One 2.6+ on the corresponding ReWire 2 channel pairs, where the Studio One 2.6+ configuration is done the same way as shown in the following YouTube video, since the infrastructure is similar for Reason 7, except that in Reason 7 it is done with virtual cables in the Reason 7 Rack rather than via a drop-down list of ReWire 2 channels in the NOTION 4 Mixer, as shown in this YouTube video . . .

[NOTE: At approximately 5:15, the voice-over says "Output" for the Channel 10 ReWire 2 "Add Track" dialog setup in Studio One 2.6+, but it actually is "Input", as it should be. What you see is correct, so it is just a mistake in the voice-over . . . ]

THOUGHTS

Since Reason 7 now has an External MIDI Instrument (EMI), it can play NOTION 4 virtual instruments, and this can happen at the same time NOTION 4 External MIDI staves are playing Reason 7 instruments . . .

Moving it into the realm of being truly mind-boggling, Studio One 2.6+ can play NOTION 4 and Reason 7 virtual instruments, while NOTION 4 and Reason 7 are playing Studio One 2.6+ native and third-party virtual instruments . . .

And while all that is happening, you also can be recording (or playing already recorded) real instrument and real vocal tracks in Studio One 2.6+ and Reason 7, which includes being able to record real-time MIDI to Studio One 2.6+, NOTION 4, and Reason 7 . . .

[NOTE: I am not suggesting that anyone actually needs to do all this stuff simultaneously, but in a strange way it is comforting to know this is possible on the Mac; and although I have not verified it in the Windows universe, it should work there as well, since among other things LoopBe is a "virtual MIDI cable" and is available for Windows, hence the ability to do the "virtual MIDI cable" stuff on a Windows machine . . . . ]
