Phrase marks AND slurs?

Hi guys,
Two things:
Firstly, I'm having an issue with notating a Cello part. I have a phrase mark running over four bars, but I also want to slur some notes together underneath the phrase mark,
I've been using the slur tool to create the phrase markings, so it makes sense that Notion won't let me put two identical diacritical markings in the same place, but there must be some way for me to do this?
Secondly, when I go to the part setup page and attempt to enlarge the size of the notation (some of the older folks in the orchestra like it BIG), and once I select notation size and change it, nothing happens. Same with the "bars per line" dialog. The only change I can make from that page is changing the font to Jazz. I'm sure it's blindingly obvious, what I'm doing wrong - but I can't see it for the life of me!
