A search returns mixer-related crashes as late as 5.2.377. I'm getting them with version 5.2.381.

Am I the only one still getting these crashes, or has everybody resigned themselves to living with them?

It is VERY annoying ...

I still get them, and way too often.

I've learned to:
A) save before every playback
B) don't open mixer window during playback
C) keep a minimum number of vst Windows open
D) not punch my laptop. It's not his fault

One of my biggest complaints with this program. It's seems random and way too often. I have tried many ways to avoid it, but every time I need to open the mixer I save my work first. I can't count how many times I've lost work because of that mixer bug. Drives me nuts.

An auto bug report was sent on at least one instance today. I opened a ticket on it and provided the requested sys info file.

Maybe if enough of us do that Presonus will get enough info to isolate the cause.

Pretty sure they're aware of it. It's been a common gripe for quite some time now... :x

UPDATE:

Shortly after submitting the ticket on this, I switched Notion to Run As Administrator. I haven't had the crash again since making this change.

I'm not 100% certain at this point, but it's looking good as a work-around.

I did this too. It seems less frequent ...but it'll still bite you on occasion.

This is still happening in version 6. Twice today! Obviously a known bug.

Wow.....Notion 6 still has that bug, huh? I don't have Notion 6 yet, but I was really hoping that bug would be "eradicated" by now. For me, as stated before, I have made it a habit to save, save, save, before hitting that "button. About 1 out of 3 times it'll crash. In the past I have lost a lot of work because of that bug.

Hello from Spain.
Please, excuse my poor English.

I know is an old post, but I think I´ve found a solution.
I had this problem since I updated Notion 4 to 6 (a few weeks ago).
Every session in notion 6 that I opened the mixer was a risk of crash.

The Presonus technical support has been really good in these days (thanks again, Brian), but the solution was circumstantial.

Solution:
I´ve just disabled the Windows sticky notes in the desktop.
That´s all: no sticky notes in the desktop, no more problems with the mixer (for now).
I started to use the sticky notes at the same time I updated to Notion 6.
I´m not sure, but I´ve have to think it´s related to the issue.

I hope this can be useful for someone.

Best regards.

Yes, Windows here. I still saw this after upgrading to Notion 6. Also on a new machine. I set Notion to run as admin and the problem went away again.

Where does one enable/disable Sticky Notes?

I have not explained well, sorry.

You have to disabled sticky notes only if you have activated them from the windows accessories folder and you have any of these notes in the desktop.

In my case, I threw away the sticky note that was on my desktop. This is what I meant by "disabling".

Regards.
