It looks like my 1818VSL is officially a paperweight as it has reached "End of Service." Quite a strange feeling, I would not have expected a piece of hardware like this to simply become obsolete. In any case, it does seem a bit strange to just toss it in the garbage.

Does anyone have any recommendations on alternative means of disposal? Is anyone recycling these parts?

What do you even mean by that statement? Does it not work anymore? Or did you simply buy
a new computer and found that the 1818 is not compatible with whatever new OS you are running?

I would not have expected a piece of hardware like this to simply become obsolete.

That has happened with both hardware and software since people started making music with computers. Companies cannot support discontinued legacy hardware/software forever. Apple's constant changing of CPU architecture and OS "upgrades" have made a LOT of devices "obsolete". Many software developers have simply given up on the platform.

So you want to sell it? I can use the parts.

Looks like my AudioBox 1818VSL has reached the end too. I just upgraded my PC last week to a Core i7, 64 gigs of RAM, & running Windows 11. I'm guessing it's just outdated gear because I have upgraded the firmware and everything else including the installation of the Universal Control and now the 1818 is not even recognized. Before that, I THOUGHT I had it figured out but any audio I send through the 1818 sounds staticky which I figure has alot to do with the buffering rate or the sample rate. I have tried every configuration and NOTHING. I've uninstalled & reinstalled drivers, devices, upgraded the firmware and restarted the computer numerous times. NOTHING. So now I'm seeing all these posts about similar issues and VSL support ending-I haven't been on this site in years because everything was working fine until the PC upgrade last week-but now it looks like it's time to go in a different direction. Thank you PreSonus. It was good while it lasted but I'm parting ways with y'all.

You're barking up the wrong tree. Your interface is fine but newer operating systems prevent the low-level access needed for VSL to work. So in a way you could blame Hackers Inc. I guess. Still, it's you prerogative to shun PreSonus. I hope you sent your computer manufacturer and Microsoft their notifications too.

Discontinuation Notice

Switchback I hope I am barking up the wrong tree. And yes I did put Microsoft on notice but hell, I may just upgrade. Never have had an issue with PreSonus until now. I like Studio 1 too. Who knows?
