I own the 1818 and I was thinking about getting the IO station 24c. Are the preamps better in the 24c vs the 1818? I mean, cleaner, more headroom, etc. Thank you.

All that information is available on THIS site. And Google is your friend. But I did your homework for you. They both use the EXACT SAME XMAX preamps. All you'd be doing is exchanging the 1818's EIGHT preamps for the IO's TWO. Now if you're planning on doing mobile recording and only need TWO preamps, The IO is a good choice as it has a smaller footprint and offers DAW control like a Faderport. It all depends on what your needs are.

Thanks. I tried Googling this and had no luck about the preamps. I use the 1818 for my main computer in my Den/Sound Room. However, I have a really good laptop that I was using an PreSonus AudioBox and recording vocals in my wife's closet because she has so many clothes there is no echo. I am using a Neuman TLM 103. I had to crank the pot on the AudioBox to get a decent sound level. I don't have to do this with the 1818. So I probably will get the io station since the preamps are good and I get the function of the faderport too.

Google aside, Presonus has info on all products whether current or legacy
on this site....you've just got to poke around. The IO sounds like a good choice
for your wife's "vocal booth"....LOL!!

Hope it all works out!
