Hi.

I'm recording drum kit/percussion and am experiencing distortion in my cue mix.

The set up: iMac IOS 24 GIG, Studio One 3 DAW, Audiobox 1818VSL interface, 1 AKG D12, 4 AKG C1000's, a Shure SM57 and a pair of AKG C414 XLII"s as overheads.

All the levels on the interface are set to exactly half way, including the main and phones levels.

I'm am not experiencing any clipping in Studio One 3 at all. The input levels are reaching about half way up, and the output faders are set to about half way up.

Playback is not overly loud at all.

I've send some percussion stems to a friend who uses Logic as a DAW. He said my stems were barely audible and the waveforms were barely visible, and the stems were unusable. I had to re-record the entire piece of music with my levels cranked way up. I caused a lot of distortion in my Cue Mix, but the levels at his end were perfect.

Also, on the C414's, I'm using a cardioid polar pattern and -12DB on both mics. There is some distortion through these mics in my cue mix, even though all my levels are set to exactly half way and not overly loud.

I can't figure it out!!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
