Sorry lads, you will need to purchase a device that actually works. I recommend a Focusrite product. Steer away from anything Audiobox, as they will leave you hanging in a few years...Products that should last tens of years, are quickly made obsolete without driver support...or functionality from Windows updates and lack of proactive sponsorship. Widndows 10, on all three of my PC's at home have stopped recognizing my Audiobox 1818VSL rendering it worthless. Good luck

So....wanna sell it? I've got an 1818 and 44VSL. No problems here. They run just fine
on Windows 10 64 bit here. With these drivers:

Don't know what your problem is. Maybe a bad USB cable. Maybe your AudioBox is broken?
When was the last time you did a proper driver uninstall/re-install? None of that is Presonus'
fault tho no need to slag them.

Enjoy your new Focusrite. God knows they don't have any complaints on THEIR forums......LOL!!

Likewise still using my Audiobox 1818 with the latest UC driver in Windows 10 Pro 64. Looking at Quantum 2626 when available but no rush. Typically 88.2 kHz 24 bit, lots of tracks, low latency with loads of virtual instruments. Yes there are better interfaces out there but it's not a boat anchor yet. Maybe update to the latest Universal Control. Yes, VSL itself was gone years ago, but the interface and current driver's are very usable.

Hi,

It sounds to me rather like something broke on your specific device. I have several Audiobox devices. All of them are still working on different machines on Windows 10 - and my original Audiobox USB from 2008 is still working flawlessly.

So, in your case, if you are using the same USB cable when plugging it into different machines, the cable may have broken, or if you are plugging it in to different USB ports, it could be a USB port registration issue.

I was about to buy this interface, but after seeing all the complaints might just stick to Scarlett. I'm using an 18i8 now but need eight inputs with phantom power on the front panel. Also need to use the interface stand alone without a computer. For some reason my Scarlett now only works stand alone on the first two inputs. It works fine with S1 for recording. Can anyone recommend an interface that meets these needs.
Thanks

When I click on the link, it takes me to the "Universal Control" download which does not allow me to use VSL on my 44. Is there a link to the older software?

DIRECTLY to the left of the link for the current version of UC there is a clickable link that says:

Show / Hide all versions of software downloads

Clicking on THAT link will provide links to previous driver versions.

That being said we can help you better now and in the future with a bit more info......if you will post your system specs in your signature, (see my sig), we will be better able to troubleshoot your problems. Without knowing what type of pc you're running, what OS you're using, what DAW, make and model of your audio interface etc....we often can't recommend a "simple fix"

If you have not already done so please READ THE MANUAL!

Just a fyi but the audiobox 1.3 driver from years ago still works just fine under windows 10 and the val still functions. Yes I am disappointed they didn't want to continue to support it but it works fine so if it works it's honestly best to leave alone.

I think what is more disappointing to me is they didn't update the iPad app so you have a iPad 2 to use the app controls.

Hello, I understand your friend's problem! I know that Presonus has discontinued the VSL program because it is not working well with Macs! reported that the 1818vsl audiobox would work well without the program! I would like to know how to configure the outputs and the clock signal without the program on windows! I don't tolerate rude responses! we are here to learn!

Here's how to make Presonus AudioBox 1818VSL work with Windows 11.
1. Uninstall any previous Universal Control from your computer. The uninstaller is usually placed in your C:Drive. C:\Program Files\PreSonus\Universal Control
2. Uninstall McAfee Antivirus. I tried pausing the firewall within the McAfee control system, but I continued to get an error message. The complete removal (temporary) of McAfee is all that I needed to allow a proper download of the AudioBox driver components.
3. Power down the AudioBox and unplug your USB connection from the AudioBox to the computer.
4. Install an earlier version of Universal Control. https://paeweb.presonusmusic.com/downlo ... _50756.exe

5. Reconnect Audiobox and power it on. This should allow your AB 1818VSL and its drivers to work properly.

Just FYI....the link you posted does not work. I cannot speak to Win11 as I'm not an early adopter. I prefer to let others be Microsoft's unpaid beta testers for a good long time before I "upgrade" my OS.
That being said, on the 1818VSL's download page:

https://www.presonus.com/products/AudioBox-1818VSL/downloads

if you select Windows 11 from the drop you will see that Presonus claims, and again I cannot confirm this, that the most recent version of UC: Universal Control v4.0.0.90879 supports both Win 10 and Win11.
