Presonus 44VSL Monitoring Conundrum - Please Help

Hello, I'm amazed how what felt like a simple task has turned into something I am unable to solve or get my head around. I've been using Presonus audio interfaces for 10 years so I'm surprised I can't work this out. I really need some help here.
I have a Presonus 44VSL with the latest drivers, I'm using a studio one at a friends studio. All we want to do is seemingly simple ... Plug an electric guitar in and software monitor it (for example using Guitar Rig) and at the same time I would like to plug in a microphone and direct monitor it.
The problem seems to be, those two objectives are in direct conflict with one another, Using the MIXER KNOB on the front of the device yields two results. 1. Turning it to "VSL" means I perfectly hear my wet Guitar Rig sound, but as a consequence I now hear vocals with latency. 2. I turn the knob to "Inputs" which gives me perfect direct monitoring of the vocals, but as a consequence I now hear dry unaffected guitar. If I put the knob in the middle, I simply get great direct monitoring of the vocals but with a 50% dry/wet in put from the guitar (no good).
I suspect this has become more problematic since Presonus removed the VSL mixer software as this obviously gave a bit more flexibility and options. There are two great mysteries of man kind. 1. The pyramids and 2. Why Presonus removed all the features they sold their product based on. Anyway, that's another topic entirely.
Essentially, using the latest driver (I'm aware I could use the old one). How can I get around this problem? Is it possible to mute direct monitoring for a particular input? I.e mute the guitar's direct monitoring and leave the vocals on? That would solve the problem. How else can I achieve what I want to?
Thank you to the hero in advance who helps me solve this
Thank you
