AudioBox 1818VSL, 44VSL and 22VSL

I have an acoustic-electric guitar with an onboard active preamp. I connect it to my 44VSL via a stereo jack cable. In Studio One, when I add the corresponding input as the input for a track, I do not hear my guitar at all. All I hear are faint rhythmic clicks - to be precise, very quick double-clicks with an interval of ~1.5secs between each. I hear additional clicks when strumming a string. The same problem arises with standalone Guitar Rig. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: I found out I was using the wrong input - you're supposed to use the line input for active instruments. Weirdly though, switching to it didn't help one bit - the exact same thing happens. Still very confused
