Thanks to the great info on this site, I have troubleshot the issue to be one of two things
1) the 44vsl has a blown component ( unlikely) inside
2) the PSU device that powers it no longer supplies the proper voltage and currents

I followed all the steps on this site to all suspected things and found
My 22vsl works perfectly with the same usb cable
My 44vsl wont load the drivers anymore
I used to have to power cycle the 44vsl after the system came up

I have all the latest windows driveers software
and am running vsl version 1.3

Can it actually be the power supply?
and if so where can I get another PSU
for my 44 vsl ?

Thank YOu !
