Just updated to Universal Control 1.8, which removes Audiobox (wasn't aware of this during install, but nevermind). Now my headphone channel is not outputting - with Universal Control, how do I change any channel settings? How can I turn the headphones back on? Am I missing something in the Universal Control interface?
This seems like a major feature downgrade! Before I go back to Audiobox, thought I would post here to see if anyone else has the same issue. Thanks |
Just updated to Universal Control 1.8, which removes Audiobox No, it does not remove anything. The current UC no longer installs the VSL software as it is incompatible with newer operating systems. If it was working on your machine there was no need to "upgrade" to UC 1.8. In any case if the VSL software worked on your machine previously, you can revert to that. BUT....before you installed UC did you perform a proper UNINSTALL of VSL? You can't just install the new software on top of the old. Here's a guide to perform a proper unistall/re-install. Not matter which version you choose to use, I suggest you do this first: http://support.presonus.com/hc/en-us/articles/210044723-How-do-I-uninstall-and-reinstall-my-AudioBox-drivers-in-Windows-7-or-Vista- That being said, we can help you better now and in the future with a bit more info......if you will post your system specs in your signature, (see my sig), we will be better able to troubleshoot your problems. Without knowing what type of pc you're running, what OS you're using, what DAW etc....we often can't recommend a "simple fix" If you have not already done so please READ THE MANUAL!

In the installer notes was mentioned, that you can't use the VSL software wich does this routing to multiple outputs. If your on windows you need something like VB-Audio's Voicemeeter wich does this virtual mixing. Windows alone can only deliver only one device at the same time where Voicemeeter Banana can serve three outputs.

As I already mentioned, you do not have to install the latest drivers...UC 1.8. If the older version with VSL works on your pc and you want to use it there's no reason you can't. I know several users with more than one machine that use both.

Thanks for the shout, Voicemeeter does what I need it to do - I can route to 1/2 and 7/8 for main and headphones outputs simultaneously. @cristofe Thanks for the reply, I'm on Win10 64bit. I did not uninstall VSL before installing UC1.8 - didn't even think about it. I found about the update via an email article from Presonus - I guess I thought UC would detect an existing install, as it said in the article: "A standalone uninstaller script for Mac that uninstalls classic Universal Control, Universal Control-AI, and AudioBox VSL software and drivers". My brain must have missed where it said "for Mac". I haven't been following the beta of UC, so I thought it was just a software and firmware upgrade, which judging by the language used in the article was a fair assumption! http://blog.presonus.com/index.php/2016 ... nterfaces/ Yeah, I guess I should have read the release notes first. But as I have an age old problem with phantom power 'wind noise' that I've never been able to rectify, I just jumped straight in. Apart from phantom power (which I no longer use) everything is working for my intended functionality now, so I'll just stick with the Voice meeter solution - if I get any problems I'll do the complete uninstall you linked to. Thanks |
Glad to hear your up and running!

I just figured this out on Windows 10, it might help you. You can route any input to any output using the Windows sound property pages.
1. Get to the "sound property page". click the windows icon and type "sound" 2. Go to "Recording" tab 3. Select the input, right click, and select "properties" 4. Go to "Listen" tab 5. Check the "Listen to this device" checkbox 6. Select the output to route to. Could be headphones (7/8) or one of the others. |
