AUDIOBOX - insufficient gain for dynamic mics?

Hello, I'm planning to get a dynamic mic to use with my Audiobox 96, and I'm concerned that the preamps will get noisy if I crank up the gain. Am thinking of using a Samson Q2U or similar dynamic mic. Any idea if the preamps are quiet enough for this purpose? Or should I get some sort of inline preamp (like a cloudlifter)? My main application is voiceover recording.

No the audiobox's pres should be up to the job. If you want spend money. DON'T buy a Cloudlifter for a cheap Samson Dynamic Mic. More expensive mics, particularly ribbon mics would benefit more from it. Forget the Cloudlifter.....just buy a better mic!

That being said we can help you better now and in the future with a bit more info......if you will post your system specs in your signature, (see my sig), we will be better able to troubleshoot your problems. Without knowing what type of pc you're running, we often can't recommend a "simple fix".
