Hello, I'm planning to get a dynamic mic to use with my Audiobox 96, and I'm concerned that the preamps will get noisy if I crank up the gain. Am thinking of using a Samson Q2U or similar dynamic mic. Any idea if the preamps are quiet enough for this purpose? Or should I get some sort of inline preamp (like a cloudlifter)? My main application is voiceover recording.

No the audiobox's pres should be up to the job. If you want spend money. DON'T buy a Cloudlifter for a cheap Samson Dynamic Mic. More expensive mics, particularly ribbon mics would benefit more from it. Forget the Cloudlifter.....just buy a better mic!
