I reported earlier success with finding a PC with Thunderbolt and using the Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter for my Firestudio Mobile and Firestudio Project. (Asus ROG G750JS-NH71, 16MB RAM, i7 2.5GHz, GeForce GTX 870M 3GB video). I am often using the laptop on the kitchen table, with the FS Mobile for hi-res headphone listening. I was using it with power just from the interface, and it seemed to work fine for a while, though the Apple adapter got moderately warm. Today, though, I noticed a glitching after about 90 minutes use - FS blue light going off, restored when wiggling the plugs. Finally it went off longer. My suspicion: taxing the current capacity of the Thunderbolt/Firewire powering capability. This moved me to stop being lazy and get the FS power supply out to be sure. Sure enough, glitching stopped and the Firewire adapter is less warm.

Glad I discovered this before doing a critical live recording!
