The Lowest Latency Value?

Hi,

I'm looking in to picking up a second hand Firestudio Mobile (or FIrestudio Project). I read in an old reveiw from Sound on Sound that the latency goes to 256 samples. I would like to know if that's really the lowest value obtainable or can it go to 64 or even 32?

My macbook Pro is pretty well built and I can get to 64 with my aggregate of Toneport UX2 and Akai eie right now. I'm not going to assume things and be disappointed.

thanks in advance,
Luke

I have run it for audio at 64 with no issue.

Just to clarify, I work primarily with analog audio, and that setting was using the laptop in my sig. It has a 2.60ghz i5 processor.

I am late to the party. I run 32 or 64 @44.1 mostly. I just started to play with 64 which is the lowest it can do at 192. Its a good little interlace but has been out a while so at some point i would think it will go EOL. Just pure speculation...
I am curious if you get a blue Z as mine has been missing for ages. I am not actually missing it, it just used to be there. I monitor out my Behringer monitor2usb speaker headphone splitter thingie anyhow.

These claims of sub 256 samples are surprising.

In which software? All the softwares in your sigs?

Personally, with Reason 4-10 the lowest I can comfortably work without clicks, pops or aliasing sounds is 512. I am talking about tracking and mixing, not playing live. I can get away with 256 with occasional clicks and pops, but 512 is solid. I typically work at 4824.

Same for SawStudio.

Even on my new 8700K Win 10 Pro machine, 512 works well. Some VSTs are optimized to deliver best results at 1024 or 2048, ie Sonnox Restore. Lower sample rates render aliasing IME.

SawStudio on Win 10 is currently a no go, tho :-| Win 7 is better for SAW.

Claims that HIGH are surprising to me. I have no problem running at 64.
If you've set your machine up properly and it has enough CPU and RAM
you should be able to do the same regardless of what software you're running.

Sound like your machine is either underpowered or not properly set up for
audio production.

192 with a FireStudio Mobile is impressive! Pls share how you mod’d yours.

I did not mod mine. I am at either set at 32 or 64 in UC running at 44.1 or 48.0 in S1

I'm just sayin', because mine only does 96 kHz. Unsure how you hit 192 kHz sampling rate, as you mentioned.
